A Report for the Month of June

The PNHS Debating Club has conducted the following activities for the month of June 2009.

The nine remaining members of the Club namely : Valerie Lorraine Tan, Dyna Marie Castellano, Honeelee Arevalo, Gina Juarez, Cirille Ann Juarez, Ralph Russel Prias Kathleen Faith Briones, April Luna Joy Palomaria, and Noeme Kaye Pilatan were called for a meeting and were formally moved from Junior member status to Team Council Members on a Council Meeting held last June 5, 2009 (Honestly, I forgot when was that… or did we do that? Hehehe).

On June 11, 2009, the Club conducted its Invitational Screening of New Members. Invitation notes were sent to prospective members selected by the Team Council. A meeting was then held afterwards.

On June 15, 2009, A Public Screening for Interested Applicants was opened. However, it seemed that the students of Passi National High School are actually not so interested with Debate Clubs such as ours since there was no turn out of applicants after 5 PM.

The Club posted the results of the Screening on June 11, 2009. The following are the new members of the club:

An Organizational Meeting was held on June 15, 2009. Additional members of the Team Council were elected by the new members. They had also agreed that the senior members of the club (referring to the fourth year students) should be included in the council since the Officers of the Club will be elected from that group.

As stated in the constitution and by-laws, the Debate Society shall also be made up of Associate Members. The associate members of the club refers to the alumni of Passi National High School who were members of the Debating Club (now Debate Society) of during their school years.

The Club has also agreed to regularly meet every first Monday and second Friday of the month. An Acquaintance Program will be held on July 18, 2009 at Passi National High School.

On the line for this July are the Induction of Officers and Members, the Acquaintance Party and the ratification of the Club’s Constitution and by-laws.
